The Government is expanding Huduma centres to cover all counties for seamless access to and delivery of government services, Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service and Human Capital Development Justin Muturi has said.
Muturi said the Huduma service delivery program has transformed the public service to one that is helping Kenyans access and manage government services easily.
He also applauded the collaboration with various ministries, departments, agencies and counties who have deployed their services across various platforms.
Muturi commended Huduma Kenya staff for their commitment to observing service delivery which has made Huduma Kenya the trusted face of Government.
“As we join the rest of the world in celebrating our customers above and beyond and as public servants we have to go above and beyond our call of duty in our service delivery to mwananchi,” Muturi said.
He said the public service role is not just to meet expectations of the client/customer but to exceed the expectations by ensuring that every interaction with citizens is marked with compassion, courtesy, respect and efficiency leaving in the mind of the customer, a non-forgettable experience.
The CS made these remarks when he made an inaugural visit to Huduma Kenya Secretariat Offices, Huduma Contact and Tele-Counselling Centre and Huduma Centre in GPO, Nairobi where he emphasized that in line with the Kenyan Vision 2030 and quota mark economic transformation agenda, Huduma Kenya has an ambitious plan to roll out 290 county Huduma centers.
Muturi explained that as stated by the Executive Secretary, there are several applications made by various Members of Parliament who want to collaborate with Huduma Kenya to establish Huduma centers in various constituencies.
He pointed out that Huduma centers were already established in four counties namely Tharaka Nithi, Kajiado, Kiambu, and Laikipia Counties not so long ago.
“To embody the one stop shop concept, I had ministries, departments, agencies and counties deploy services across Huduma centers to ensure equitable and seamless service delivery to citizens,” Muturi added.
The CS further called upon the ministries, departments, agencies and counties that do not have staff in Huduma centers to take advantage of the Huduma Kenya universal agents adding that the agents shall be trained to offer various services on their behalf.
He at the same time noted that the National Transport Authority Agency and National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) services are open in only 15 Huduma centers meaning that thousands or even millions of citizens have to travel long distances to either apply or renew their driver’s licenses.
Muturi assured Kenyans that the public service will continue to work closely with MDAs to enhance the availability of government services. He urged Kenyans to pick up the over 180,000 national identification cards, 47,000 driving licenses and 54,000 birth certificates in various Huduma centers in their counties that await collection.
