The Government has intensified efforts to expand digital access and create opportunities for young people following the official launch of three digital hubs in Wiyumiririe, Passenga and Mirangine in Ol Kalou Constituency, Nyandarua County.
The hubs were commissioned by the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, who said the facilities will play a critical role in equipping young people with digital skills, fostering innovation and connecting communities to emerging opportunities in the digital economy.
Speaking during the launch, Kabogo said the Government is committed to ensuring that every Kenyan, regardless of location, has access to technology and can benefit from the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
“These digital hubs are more than just buildings equipped with computers and internet connectivity.
They are centres of opportunity where young people can acquire digital skills, innovate, access online jobs and develop solutions that improve their lives and communities. Our goal is to ensure that no Kenyan is left behind in the digital age,” said Kabogo.
The three facilities form part of the Government’s nationwide Digital Hubs Programme, an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide by expanding access to affordable internet, digital literacy training, innovation spaces, and government digital services.
Through the programme, thousands of young people are expected to gain the skills required to compete in the rapidly growing global digital marketplace.
Developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Information, Communications and NG-CDF, the hubs will provide access to computers, high-speed internet, digital skills training, online work opportunities, entrepreneurship support and e-government services.
