Kiambu seals deal with Israel to boost socio-economic growth

HELLEN LUNALO-KNA

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has welcomed a partnership between the county government and the Government of Israel in key sectors aimed at driving socio-economic transformation across the region.

Wamatangi said that Kiambu County is ready to secure international collaboration and resource-sharing, particularly in the fields of agriculture, health, transport, and trade.

The governor noted that Kiambu County will benefit immensely through the use of Israeli technology, to supply water to arid areas within the County.

He added that the partnership will mainly focus on farming, where Kiambu sought to use Israeli modern technology in value addition to agricultural products to enable farmers compete effectively in both local and international markets.

Wamatangi made the remarks when he hosted the Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, who paid him a courtesy call at his office.

“By bringing in modern technology, farm productivity will be improved, especially tackling the water scarcity issues that have held back Kiambu farmers for prolonged periods,” Wamatangi noted.
